Basket

How it works underneath

Your pay is counted in months, not in money.

A basket is five shares that add up to one: rice, rent, fuel, school, everything else. When pay comes in, it is turned into basket units at that day's prices. A unit is always one month's worth of those five things in those five shares. Prices move, the money value of a unit moves with them, and the basket buys the same basket.

The rules

  • You set your shares in plain numbers. Change them any time; from then on, what you hold is counted in the new shares.
  • Pay goes in as USDC and is held as units at today's prices. Nothing is bought or sold on your behalf.
  • Prices for the five things are posted to the contract. When rice goes up ten percent, a basket that is forty percent rice is worth four percent more.
  • Take money out any time. Units come out at today's prices, from a reserve that anyone can top up. That reserve is the hedge, and it is the part that becomes a business.

What you see without signing in

An example basket on a three hundred dollar month, with prices drifting the way they do, so you can watch a slice grow and the pay grow with it. It is labelled example wherever you act on it. Sign in to set your own shares on chain and pay into them.

What is real and what is next

Shares, units, prices and the reserve are on chain. Prices come from a posted oracle, and the reserve is topped up by whoever takes the other side. Turning that reserve into a continuous stablecoin hedge through Arc's exchange is the next step; the accounting that makes it possible is already here.

Why Arc

Keeping a wage level against rice, rent and fuel means adjusting it a little, all the time. That only works on a small salary if every adjustment costs a fraction of a cent and lands at once. Arc has stablecoin exchange built in and fees that round to nothing, so it works on three hundred dollars a month, not just three hundred thousand.
